San Diego Education Consortium (SDEC)
The client was actually not interested in a redesign of their logo originally. However, as I approached them with the issues that their original logo had, while also explaining a rebrand would not steer far from the original design. This gave the client the ability to listen more in tune with the proposed changes.
First, the color in the original logo made it hard on the eyes when trying to read the yellow type against a white background. After that, I tackled the S, and I also addressed the unnecessary white space in the counter of the letter “D”.
This simple adjustment changed the whole feel and look of the logo and allows more readability when reading from a distance on white backgrounds.
These were created in Adobe Illustrator and pencil sketches.
