Shiba Inuvations
Client’s Request
To create a brand identity, packaging, and collateral synonymous with Japanese culture and one that hones in on the prestige of the Shiba Inu dog breed which is a Japanese National Monument.
Proposal
Using historical references of Japanese patterns, symbols, and packaging processes. The inclusion of the dog breed’s name and wordplay creates a strong
brand identity.
Execution
The use of a modern Japanese “inspired” type mixed with the traditional use of a brush along with subtle uses of red to draw in the Japanese red sun flag. The addition of the encircled wave pattern and Tomoe Ume (plum blossom) help tie the brand identity together. The final touch is added with the geometric shape reminiscent of bento boxes and origami practice with the closure of the boxes.
