History of the Assyrians

This was a personal project I completed back in 2018 to create a book cover design. I chose to base the design and the book on the history of my own ethnicity, “The History of the Assyrians”. I researched historical references to find the ornamental designs and colors that were used when they painted palace walls in the life and times of ancient Assyria.

Adding to the design is the modern flag of the Assyrian people shown in the middle. The design of the flag is taken from imagery found on multiple sculptures from the Assyrians. It represents the sun, while the flag has attributed additional context to the addition of the colors.

The type treatment helps give the book an easily readable yet decorative title that complements the ornate designs of the book cover.
